Beta Readers
Read the almost-final version. Help me fix what I can’t see.
What this actually is
Beta reading is for complete or near-complete drafts. You’re reading a full book — not chunks, not chapters in progress. The story is there. The structure is set. What I need from you is a clear-eyed read from start to finish.
Your job is to tell me what’s working and what isn’t, with enough specificity to be actionable. Not proofreading — I have an editor for that. Not line-level notes on every sentence. Big picture: does it land? Where did you check out? What didn’t track? What hit harder than expected?
Beta feedback is the last round of reader input before the book goes to final editing. It matters.
What beta readers get
- The full draft 4–6 weeks before publication — earlier than any ARC
- Acknowledgment in the finished book by name (if you want it)
- First ARC of the published version, before the general ARC list opens
- Added to the permanent beta list for consideration on future books
What’s required
- Age
- 18 or older. The content is adult dark romance with explicit scenes and mature themes.
- Turnaround
- You must complete and return feedback within 3 weeks of receiving the manuscript. If that’s not feasible, this round isn’t for you — no hard feelings.
- Confidentiality
- A simple NDA is required. Nothing complicated — you agree not to share the draft or discuss specifics until the book is published.
- Content
- Must be comfortable reading dark romance: morally complex characters, non-traditional power dynamics, and content that doesn’t resolve neatly.

When calls go out
Beta calls happen on a per-book basis — there’s no standing open application. When a book is ready for beta, I pull from this list first. Join the list below and you’ll be notified when the next round opens.
